IBC: Inflammatory Breast Cancer ... IMPORTANT

It was brought to my attention that television station KOMO in Seattle, Washington, did a story on Inflammatory Breast Cancer: The Silent Killer. I viewed the video and was left speechless. Women as young as teenagers have died from this fast-growing cancer. Maybe it's because I've lost a friend to breast cancer, or maybe it's because my dad is taking chemo treatments for colon cancer, but the minute this video ended, I was making posts on MySpace, VinXperience, and sending e-mails to all my friends about this. It's that important.

The video speaks for itself. Folks, please click on the link below to watch this six-minute segment.

Please help spread the word about this recently-discovered cancer.

Living in Seattle I saw this newscast when it aired. I was also left speechless because of the fact of not only is it difficult to catch in its early stages, but that the women who had IBC were not women who anyone would think could have breast cancer. For instance, the 16 year old girl who died from IBC.

So now, not only does there need to be more research and awareness of IBC but the strong need of parents creating strong bonds with their daughters. The 16 year old hid her symptoms from her mom because she felt shameful. This broke my heart and I know I definately had a heart to heart of not only with my mom but with my aunts and grandmothers. I also spoke with my sister-in-law who is a new mom.

This is definately a scarier form of breast cancer because of how unaware people, heck, hospitals themselves are so uninformed about it. For instance, I have forgotten which hospital, but Komo News 4 had called the information desk at the hospital and they themselves were not aware of IBC.

I will definately spread the word on Myspace. I want this to catch like wildfire and spread across the internet so that everyone is informed and not "ashamed" to speak with a doctor.

    Thank you so much!
