Instant Tapioca Pudding can be used to thicken stews and gravies simmered on low in a crock pot.  Use it like you would corn starch.
Barbecue Sauce to the Rescue

I was frying 10 lbs of these wings for one of my best friend's wedding, and I was pressed for time. After the fifth one-pound frying batch, it became obvious that my oil needed filtering or changing, but I didn't have more oil. I decided to fry the remaining batch of wings the same as before, but I placed them in a large bowl separate from the earlier batches.

After taking up the last batch out of the pot, I took a few tablespoons of barbecue sauce and mixed up the latter batch of wings with the sauce (to mask the "used" taste of the oil). I had five pounds of fried party wings and five pounds of fried barbecue party wings.

All were devoured with rave reviews.
